Monxton & Amport Village Hall
"The Hall is nearly completed with a foreseeable opening date in March 2025"

THE VILLAGE HALL
The project to build the Monxton & Amport Village Hall was driven by the fact that the old hall was cold, dark and had a condemned boiler/tank and a leaking roof causing black mould to grow on the ceiling making it very unattractive as a location for any activity including parties or even parish council meetings.
The original plan to refurbish the hall was dropped as grants were only available for a rebuild and £350,000 was deemed unachievable for pure community funding. In addition, the cost of a rebuild equalled the estimated cost of refurbishment.

The application for both CIL and CAF funding was successful, granting a total of £370,000 with an additional £100,000 raised by villagers over a 5-year period. A local builder, Huttons, was then appointed following a tender process.

Covid and the Ukraine war delayed the commencement of work until 2023, when demolition began and inadequate foundations were revealed: the existing foundations would not support the new building, particularly as it is located on a flood plain. In order to not lose the allocated grants, the decision was made to build the structure and waterproof shell with the available funds, and to seek further local funds and skills for the fit out.

Approximately £20,000 is needed to complete the project and we are actively fundraising in order to reach this amount. We are also actively looking for people with certain skills to get involved.
The new hall benefits from the following:
Oak framed light and bright building
Under floor heated by an Air Source Heat pump
Powered by solar panels and a battery system
Self funding via export of power to the grid
Large commercial kitchen
Meeting area for home workers or off site meeting
Large space for events
Fibre optic 500Mbit broadband and WIFI

We have embarked on the creation of a genuine community asset that will be an attractive and practical social hub serving all generations across the villages. We invite you to become part of its realisation and its future.

The power of community is stronger than the will of an individual. Let's come together to rebuild our village hall and make it a place for everyone to enjoy.
